2025 Duluth Learn to Skate Program Schedule
Sundays at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Sports Center
Session 1: Sept. 21 - Oct. 12
Session 2: Oct. 19 - Nov. 9
Must attend Session 1 to attend Session 2 - Session 2 includes an additional option to learn to skate with sticks.
Both Sessions are included in the $50 Registration Fee Deposit

Ages
Open to all children between the ages 4-10 (as of September 22, 2024 residing within ISD 709/City of Duluth boundaries who are new to skating and have never played organized hockey.
LEVELS
Beginner Level
Introduction to skating. This level is designed for children who have little to no experience on skates or need assistance skating.
Learner Level 1
Some experience skating. This level is if your child has had some experience skating before and can generally stand and move on their own.
Learner Level 2
Basic skill practicing. This level is designated for children who are looking to practice basic skating skills.
EQUIPMENT
We highly recommend that you bring your own skates and helmet. Bike helmets and hockey helmets are acceptable. Mittens & gloves are also highly encouraged. Skates will be available to borrow from the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center if needed.
When
The 2024 Duluth Learn to Skate Program will be held on eight consecutive Sunday afternoons, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 :15 p.m. beginning on September 21.
Each Learn to Skate date is broken into three, 45-minute time options. Each time frame will host all three skill levels. Please choose the time (A, B or C) that works best for your family. We ask that once you pick your time that you attend that slot for all sessions you attend.
Time A : 12:30 p.m.-1:15 p.m.
Time B : 1:15 p.m.-2 p.m.
Time C : 2 p.m.-2:45 p.m.

REGISTRATION FEE - Refundable
The Learn to Skate Program is free -- however, because space is limited, a $50 refundable reservation fee will be charged to your credit card. If you attend 6 of the 8 sessions, you will get the $50 credited to the card used at the time of registration after the final weekend of the program. Please allow 1-2 weeks for us to get through all the refunds.

Learn to Skate Head Coach
Patti Cane has directed the Duluth Learn to Skate program since its founding nearly 20 years ago.
Mrs. Patti, has been with DAHA from the birth of the Learn to Skate Program in 2006. She has over 30 years of skating experience working with other coaches, children of various ages and parents. She is excited to guide and develop proper habits as well as share the love of skating with as many people as she can. When Patti is not on the ice, she is at Congdon Creek Preschool directing and teaching children or spending time with her family.
